Purpose of the online course
The online course is meant to:

support the students’ independent studies

to provide text-based computer-supported learning environments

to provide cross-media learning tools for students (online teaching, videos, texts, CD-ROM)

to acquaint students with e-learning techniques
-
web-based tutorials and chat rooms
-
provide links to other WebPages
The chapters presented here constitute the conceptional framework of the lecture and provide a basis for continuative discussions on land use and management strategies. The soil classification and description follows the ‘Lecture Notes on the Major Soils of the World’ (World Soil Resources Reports 94, FAO, 2001) as reference
